About Food is Love Project

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, small restaurants were especially hard hit. At the same time, lockdowns and public health measures increased food insecurity for many people. Two projects led by Seattle restauranteurs and community leaders stepped up in the most difficult of times to both serve those most in need as well as keep their employees employed.

The Food is Love Project was started by Egan Orion, Marina Gray, Linda di Lello Morton, and Chef Tamara Murphy to get restaurants back to work by making food for people who need it. Now encompassing over a dozen restaurants and scores of volunteers, every week they serve over 1,200 meals to people across central Seattle, Lake City, and Northgate.
